Subfloor Done Right
We assess and repair the subfloor before installing anything. That's how you avoid squeaks, soft spots, and premature failures in your new floor.
Hardwood, LVP, tile, laminate, and more — professional flooring installation for homes across Jefferson County.
New flooring is one of the most transformative upgrades you can make to a home. It changes how a space looks, feels underfoot, and how easy it is to keep clean. Madras Handyman installs hardwood, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), laminate, tile, and sheet vinyl flooring for homes and businesses throughout Jefferson County, including Madras, Culver, Metolius, and Warm Springs. We're a licensed Oregon contractor (CCB# 246006), and we've installed enough flooring to know that the quality of the installation matters as much as the quality of the product.
Before any new floor goes down, we assess and prepare the subfloor. Squeaky floors, soft spots, moisture issues, and uneven surfaces must all be corrected before installation — otherwise the new floor will develop the same problems over time. Subfloor preparation is an area where many installers cut corners; we don't. Whether that means sistering joists, replacing sections of subfloor OSB, or installing a self-leveling compound to flatten a wavy slab, we address it properly before the finish flooring goes in.
Luxury vinyl plank has become one of the most popular flooring choices in Central Oregon for good reason — it's waterproof, durable, comfortable underfoot, and comes in styles that closely mimic hardwood and tile at a fraction of the cost. It's an excellent choice for kitchens, bathrooms, and high-traffic living areas, especially in homes with pets or young children. We also install traditional hardwood and laminate for homeowners who prefer natural materials or specific aesthetics.
For tile, we install ceramic and porcelain tile on floors, in showers, and as backsplashes in kitchens and bathrooms. Tile installation in wet areas requires proper waterproofing membranes and backer board — steps we always include. The result is a tile floor that won't crack, shift, or develop moisture problems behind the scenes.

Luxury vinyl plank is a synthetic flooring product that mimics the look of hardwood or tile. It's waterproof, durable, comfortable underfoot, and typically less expensive to install than real hardwood or tile. It's an excellent choice for kitchens, bathrooms, and high-traffic areas, especially in homes with pets or children.
Yes. Subfloor condition is critical to a quality flooring installation — squeaky floors, soft spots, and uneven surfaces must be addressed before new flooring goes down. We assess the subfloor as part of every estimate and include any necessary repairs in the project scope.
A typical room (200–300 sq ft) takes 1–2 days including subfloor prep and acclimation time for wood products. Whole-home flooring projects may take 3–5 days depending on square footage and material. We'll provide an accurate timeline during your estimate.
Yes. Tile installation is one of our most requested flooring services. We install ceramic and porcelain tile on floors, in showers, and as kitchen backsplashes. Proper substrate preparation and waterproofing in wet areas are critical, and we don't cut corners on either.
